The Blue Glass, 2026 | Original (1/1)

A$390.00

Material: Mixed Media on Glass
Size: 45 x 33 x 3 cm

My artwork, The Blue Glass, draws on René Magritte's surrealist approach of using scale, perspective, and identity to question how we perceive ourselves.

In the foreground, a disproportionately large, paper-cut wine glass disrupts reality, drawing you closer towards a meticulous miniature table setting. Here, a hand-sculpted polymer clay fried egg sits alongside a pair of chopsticks (made by toothpick), which is a subtle nod to my heritage. Looking closer at the miniature wine bottle from my personal collection; its custom label reads "liveillos". As you lean in, the reflective foil background creates a double image of the bottle while catching your own reflection. The back of the bottle reads "You looked that good."

It invites you to be part of the artwork, mirrored in a surreal space that explores perspective, presence and self-love.

Nesting the small frame within the larger, transparent glass frame makes the background wall itself part of the overall composition.
