‘Mu is a concept from Zen and Chan Buddhism that means: “nothingness” and “pure awareness”. The awareness at the source of all things.’ The abstract and ambiguous brief and Hannah’s moodboard allowed me to interpret her music and vision in my own way.

I was provided with a very beautiful concentric spiral painting by the artist’s friend and I decided to incorporate the texture of acrylic paint into the entire LP sleeve design. The Japanese Kanji character for “MU” was overlay-ed on Hannah’s face, resembling a tattoo or shadow.
